About this book
Even in times as tough as these, you can still shape up like a celebrity, and you can do it without having to earn a celebrity paycheck. With over twenty years of experience in the field of fitness, Cornel Chin has used his unique training methods to train the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Colin Firth, Audrey Tautou, and Tilda Swinton. Now, through Celebrity Body on a Budget, he unlocks the keys to low-cost or no-cost exercise solutions. As a gym member, you'll spend an average of 3% of your annual salary on the cost of your yearly membership. For many people, this is a high cost that can no longer be afforded or justified. With Celebrity Body on a Budget, you can still achieve that "drop dead gorgeous" celebrity body you've always admired and desired without having to break the bank. "Cornel gave me the lean look I needed. His training methods are second to none!" ~ Leonardo DiCaprio "Training with Cornel helped me achieve the good muscle tone and definition I needed for my film character." ~ Audrey Tautou "I was no great fan of exercise until I met Cornel. He has given me a way of working out that is enjoyable, sustainable and effective. I'm enormously grateful to him for converting me." ~ Colin Firth

Customer Video Review Length:: 1:17 MinsSo far, so good. I was a little upset that there weren't any video reviews for this product, (youtube, from the company itself etc.) so I promised myself that I'd make a video demonstration for others to judge. The basic stuff you need to know: There are 12 levels of resistance (I was using resistance level 8).The computer tells you how many complete rows you have performed, time performed, calories burned or you can scan through all three (My computer didn't work when it first arrived, but after a solid punch it woke up and started working). The resistance is nice. You'll get a good workout with this inexpensive machine. Storage is convenient, but don't be fooled, 35 pounds is heavy to move around from room to room. Keep the machine close to where you plan on using it. Finally, the footstraps were a major complaint. My complaint about the footstraps is that it doesn't hold your feet securely against the footrests. The clicking noise you hear in... 5/5 Louie the Italian Jew - See all my reviews, September 25, 2010

    I've had this for 1 1/2 years - still a great machine

I've used this machine for 45 min every other day for a year and a half. It is this only exercise that I do and I have seen remarkable results. I am 30 years old and I have lost thirty pounds of fat and have turned an average body type in an athletic one. My back and shoulders have especially benefited. Those are the results you can expect from using this low impact, compact, easy to use and actually pretty fun piece of exercise equipment - all form the comfort of your living room.As for the machine itself: Pros:It is sturdy - I am 6'2" and 190lbs (started at 220lbs) and have never had a problem with stability.I like the free rowing arms (as opposed to a bar like I've seen at gyms), gives the feel of a real row boat and also allows for exercising different parts of arms and back.Quick results - and probably quicker if I made some changes to my diet.Cons:Calorie counter sucks butt. Infact the computer in its entirety... 4/5 oddBobby (Dallas) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) A fantastic rower for this price!

0 5/5 Linda (United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Stamina Body Trac Glider 1050 Rowing Machine (Sports) .PROS:a. Real rowing (oar-like) action, rather than just pulling on a single T-bar.b. Comfortable even with tall people (I'm 6'1').c. Adjustable rowing tension.d. A very sturdy, rigid, and well-built frame.e. Easy to assemble.f. Takes little room to use.g. Very low cost (one hundred twenty dollars).CONS:a. The seat is not well padded.b. The unit creaks and squeaks a bit until it is warmed-up.c. No instructions explaining how to actually row properly. (I found some great videos and info on the Web, however, that instruct as to how to use rowing machines). You simply cannot beat this Stamina Body Trac Rowing Machine at this very low cost -- it is an amazing deal! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 20, 2006

This machine may save my life

I'm a former marathon runner who now has severe arthritic pain in both knees. Even walking long distances hurts. I transitioned to an elliptical machine, which was better, but still leaves me with some pain as there is still some weight bearing. I'd stopped exercising for the last few years, and have watched my weight balloon and my health start to decline. I'm so out of shape that housework and even climbing a flight of stair leaves me out of breath. I'm about 5'10" and a depressing 280 pounds of flab. So I'm basically starting from zero. I've talked to my doctor and orthopedist - both of which suggested swimming as an aerobic activity which won't stress my knees. No pool close to me so not an option. I found this machine by accident and was convinced by all the stellar reviews to try this. So here are my first impressions.Amazon had this delivered in two days via UPS. Concept2 Model D has advantages over BodyCraft VR500

After much research I bought the Concept2 Model D rower. Now I am very glad I did.I was comparing the following machines* Concept2 Model D ($900)* Concept2's Model E ($1100) which is higher off the groundand probably Concept2's strongest competitor on quality (but not price)...* BodyCraft VR500 (listed for $1900, usually on sale for $1500-1600)Also high off the ground like the Model E, and with a long monorail (both Concept2 models D and E also have an available longer monorail, for people with inseams of 38 inches/96.5cm or longer)I tested the Concept2 at my local YMCA before buying it (Concept2's website shows a listing of YMCA's with a Concept2 in your zip code). Amazing.

I resisted all the black Friday deals on rowers and bought this one based on the positive reviews. I'm glad I did. Amazon shipped it to me in 2 days. Comes in a large box that weighs about 60 lbs. Very well packaged. Puts together with just 8 bolts. All the tools are included. Took 5 minutes.Despite the positive reviews, this item exceeded my expectations. The machine is extraordinarily solid. No wiggles or give what so ever. Just unbelievable for a 55 lb machine. The rowing motion is great. Clutch uptake is without slack. The slide is smooth. There are complaints about the seat being too hard. I though that the seat was hard plastic, but it's very firm rubber. There is cushion, and I didn't have any problems at all. I bought a gel cushion, but don't find that I need it.I was a bit worried about noise since my machine is in a hard room. But there is not much noise. I'm able to hear the TV from across the room.Overall, this is one... 5/5 J. Luu (Colorado Springs, CO) - See all my reviews, December 4, 2014

    Excellent rower for home gym

Customer Video Review Length:: 0:28 Mins This is an excellent rower, especially at this price point. It is second only to the Concept2, which is much more expensive and has a far larger footprint. I am a 5'4" woman and I work out regularly (heavy lifting and cardio). The Stamina Air Rower definitely gets my heart rate elevated and provides a very good leg workout so long as you row using the proper technique (otherwise you'll mostly get an arm workout). Assembly was very simple, but I do suggest having a 2nd person to help tighten the pedals. My cousin (5'8" male, incredibly fit) and I both use this rower daily. It fits perfectly in my tiny (10' x 10') home gym, along with my weight bench, assorted Olympic weights, other small equipment, and TV stand. It is loud, but all air rowers are loud. My home gym is in the basement. When using the rower, people upstairs hear what sounds like gentle snoring in a different room. I can use this rower early in the morning without... 5/5 Jen G. Exercises Arms More Than Legs

It's easy to put together and works smoothly. The rower itself is decent, but depends on what you plan to use it for. If you are a beginning rower or plan to use it competitively or even to warm up before going out on the water, I would not recommend this product. Rowing is a leg sport and all the high end machines I've used are built with this in mind. This Stamina Air Rower however, had an issue with this concept; the resistance on the band didn't kick in until I was into the last part of my stroke (the arms). The basic pattern of a stroke is legs, back, arms. Your legs are supposed to do the hardest work because they fatigue the least, but because of where the highest amount of resistance kicked in, my arms did the bulk of the work and I tired out way too quick. If you buy it for general exercise or for therapeutic reasons, it's probably ok. Alternatively, if you are a regular rower and have been in shells this is not a device for you, not even for warming up -... 3/5 Urban Hermit (North Carolina) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Simple, effective and reasonably robust but has a flaw

I was pleasantly surprised and excited when this rowing machine first arrived. It was well packed and the frame, supports and track were of reasonable gauge steel. I tried it out and after 5 minutes of use I was hearing a click and feeling a notch each time I took a stroke. The click was coming from the area of the piston where a metal pin secures the piston to the handle. I removed the pin and saw that it was damaged. I did not see any damage when I first installed it. There were two grooves and some marks on the pin from where it was rubbing on the frame (metal on metal). The pin is made from soft metal and if it can be grooved after 5 minutes of use I can't imagine that it's going to last very long. Also, the Amazon product description includes "Adjustable foot straps." I did not receive any foot straps. It's possible that Amazon made a mistake and the machine does not come with foot straps because I don't see any in the product picture. It is disappointing to get a new... 3/5 John E. The greatest at any price!

FedEx just delivered my Sunny Health and Fitness Rowing Machine which was shipped in an excellent outer box with absolutely no holes or rips in it! The rower is completely assembled except for the handle bars which bolted on quickly with the enclosed wrench and 2 big bolts. I installed the console which was a simple slide on affair with a simple wire plug in. I never use consoles but I installed it anyway....it came with batteries included! There were no straps to hold the feet on an NONE ARE NEEDED!The seat isn't the best in the world but solid and glides easily and smoothly. I might add a small cushion for longer sessions. The hydraulic piston adjusts easily and goes from real easy to real difficult. So far I am estatic about my rower, but time will tell if I remain so. Am 86 years old and after a few minutes on the 2nd setting, I can feel the muscles in my thighs complaining, which is proof positive that the rower is doing the job it is intended for... 5/5 Melvin H. We just assembled our new Stamina 1215 Orbital Rower. It took about an hour and a half. The machine feels pretty sturdy to me. Is it worth $279? Hard to say, but with everything so overpriced these days, who knows? The acid test is usually how long something lasts, so it will be worth the money if it gives several years of good service. I've done my first half hour of rowing and it's a fairly smooth action and relatively quiet. On some sites, a few people complained that the lowest setting is too tough for beginners, and I agree. But you can set the arms even a little lower than the bottom number, and this helps. I've had two rowing machines in the past and this one is as good or better than they were. I like the ability to set the back of the bar up higher which aids in getting off and on the rower. I was concerned about the 'orbital' action of the arms, but find it's easy to adjust to, and in effect, you can just row as normal and not use the orbital ability at all. 0 4/5 Sailor Don - See all my reviews This review is from: Stamina 1215 Orbital Rowing Machine with Free Motion Arms (Sports) After using this exercise machine for about a month (9 total exercise hours), I have found it is basically a good machine for the price. After 4 hours of use, one of the hydraulic shocks developed a "dead spot" at the start of the stroke. I called the Stamina toll free number for customer support. They sent out a replacement shock which seems to be working OK.The 4 roller wheels on the seat slide are molded plastic. They aren't exactly round so they "rumble" a little bit. It would be nice if they were smooth without mold marks on the running surfaces. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 30, 2008

0 1/5 Janet GK - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Stamina 35-1405 ATS Air Rower (Sports) DO NOT BUY THIS ROWER! It has a major manufacturing and design flaw. I had the same problems as Lisa G. listed above. I got the run around from Stamina. I finally had a mechancially inclined friend fix it for me. Stamina was NO HELP WHATSOEVER. They told me to trash the first rower and then sent me a second rower with THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM--the chain gets caught! I have no idea how long the rower will last and I don't expect Stamina to do the right thing. The only reason I got any satisfaction was because the distributor intervened--they actually care about customer satisfaction. Save your money, don't buy this piece of junk, get a Concept 2. I wish I had. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 21, 2010

Great Air Rower for a Great Price!

I took delivery of this almost two weeks ago and wanted to delay writing a review until I had time to use it for a bit. This is very much like a Concept II Model A rowing machine, which is a good thing. When I took delivery I put it together myself. Due to the weight of the parts I would recommend two people. It only took about an hour to put it together nonetheless.I used to work in aerospace manufacturing so went over it thoroughly to check the manufacturing and quality of parts and am pretty impressed. It's a very sturdy piece of kit! The seat rollers are adjustable as are the footrests and the electronics show stroke rate, calories burned, time rowing, etc. I also purchased a heart rate monitor to check my time in zone. The seat is also well made; when I read that the seat was padded I expected something shoddy for the price but it's a soft plastic/hard rubber material that's just the right stiffness for long rowing workouts. I can unlock the fan to fold it over and it... 5/5 Mikster (Seattle) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?)
