About this book
Even in times as tough as these, you can still shape up like a celebrity, and you can do it without having to earn a celebrity paycheck. With over twenty years of experience in the field of fitness, Cornel Chin has used his unique training methods to train the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Colin Firth, Audrey Tautou, and Tilda Swinton. Now, through Celebrity Body on a Budget, he unlocks the keys to low-cost or no-cost exercise solutions. As a gym member, you'll spend an average of 3% of your annual salary on the cost of your yearly membership. For many people, this is a high cost that can no longer be afforded or justified. With Celebrity Body on a Budget, you can still achieve that "drop dead gorgeous" celebrity body you've always admired and desired without having to break the bank. "Cornel gave me the lean look I needed. His training methods are second to none!" ~ Leonardo DiCaprio "Training with Cornel helped me achieve the good muscle tone and definition I needed for my film character." ~ Audrey Tautou "I was no great fan of exercise until I met Cornel. He has given me a way of working out that is enjoyable, sustainable and effective. I'm enormously grateful to him for converting me." ~ Colin Firth

Customer Video Review Length:: 1:17 MinsSo far, so good. I was a little upset that there weren't any video reviews for this product, (youtube, from the company itself etc.) so I promised myself that I'd make a video demonstration for others to judge. The basic stuff you need to know: There are 12 levels of resistance (I was using resistance level 8).The computer tells you how many complete rows you have performed, time performed, calories burned or you can scan through all three (My computer didn't work when it first arrived, but after a solid punch it woke up and started working). The resistance is nice. You'll get a good workout with this inexpensive machine. Storage is convenient, but don't be fooled, 35 pounds is heavy to move around from room to room. Keep the machine close to where you plan on using it. Finally, the footstraps were a major complaint. My complaint about the footstraps is that it doesn't hold your feet securely against the footrests. The clicking noise you hear in... 5/5 Louie the Italian Jew "Lou da Joo" - See all my reviews, September 25, 2010

    I've had this for 1 1/2 years - still a great machine

I've used this machine for 45 min every other day for a year and a half. It is this only exercise that I do and I have seen remarkable results. I am 30 years old and I have lost thirty pounds of fat and have turned an average body type in an athletic one. My back and shoulders have especially benefited. Those are the results you can expect from using this low impact, compact, easy to use and actually pretty fun piece of exercise equipment - all form the comfort of your living room.As for the machine itself: Pros:It is sturdy - I am 6'2" and 190lbs (started at 220lbs) and have never had a problem with stability.I like the free rowing arms (as opposed to a bar like I've seen at gyms), gives the feel of a real row boat and also allows for exercising different parts of arms and back.Quick results - and probably quicker if I made some changes to my diet.Cons:Calorie counter sucks butt. Infact the computer in its entirety... 4/5 oddBobby (Dallas) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) A fantastic rower for this price!

0 5/5 Linda (United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Stamina Body Trac Glider 1050 Rowing Machine (Sports) .PROS:a. Real rowing (oar-like) action, rather than just pulling on a single T-bar.b. Comfortable even with tall people (I'm 6'1').c. Adjustable rowing tension.d. A very sturdy, rigid, and well-built frame.e. Easy to assemble.f. Takes little room to use.g. Very low cost (one hundred twenty dollars).CONS:a. The seat is not well padded.b. The unit creaks and squeaks a bit until it is warmed-up.c. No instructions explaining how to actually row properly. (I found some great videos and info on the Web, however, that instruct as to how to use rowing machines). You simply cannot beat this Stamina Body Trac Rowing Machine at this very low cost -- it is an amazing deal! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 20, 2006

This machine may save my life

I'm a former marathon runner who now has severe arthritic pain in both knees. Even walking long distances hurts. I transitioned to an elliptical machine, which was better, but still leaves me with some pain as there is still some weight bearing. I'd stopped exercising for the last few years, and have watched my weight balloon and my health start to decline. I'm so out of shape that housework and even climbing a flight of stair leaves me out of breath. I'm about 5'10" and a depressing 280 pounds of flab. So I'm basically starting from zero. I've talked to my doctor and orthopedist - both of which suggested swimming as an aerobic activity which won't stress my knees. No pool close to me so not an option. I found this machine by accident and was convinced by all the stellar reviews to try this. So here are my first impressions.Amazon had this delivered in two days via UPS. Concept2 Model D has advantages over BodyCraft VR500

After much research I bought the Concept2 Model D rower. Now I am very glad I did.I was comparing the following machines* Concept2 Model D ($900)* Concept2's Model E ($1100) which is higher off the groundand probably Concept2's strongest competitor on quality (but not price)...* BodyCraft VR500 (listed for $1900, usually on sale for $1500-1600)Also high off the ground like the Model E, and with a long monorail (both Concept2 models D and E also have an available longer monorail, for people with inseams of 38 inches/96.5cm or longer)I tested the Concept2 at my local YMCA before buying it (Concept2's website shows a listing of YMCA's with a Concept2 in your zip code). I also tested the BodyCraft VR500 at my local 2nd Wind Exercise Equipment store.I purchased the Polar H7 heart-rate monitor to work with the Concept2 , and the RowPro Software for the Concept2 after trialing it for 3 weekends... 5/5 Mark "Anonymous" (Minneapolis, MN) - See all my reviews This review is from: Concept2 Model D Indoor Rowing Machine with PM5 (Sports) After much research I bought the Concept2 Model D rower. Amazing.

I resisted all the black Friday deals on rowers and bought this one based on the positive reviews. I'm glad I did. Amazon shipped it to me in 2 days. Comes in a large box that weighs about 60 lbs. Very well packaged. Puts together with just 8 bolts. All the tools are included. Took 5 minutes.Despite the positive reviews, this item exceeded my expectations. The machine is extraordinarily solid. No wiggles or give what so ever. Just unbelievable for a 55 lb machine. The rowing motion is great. Clutch uptake is without slack. The slide is smooth. There are complaints about the seat being too hard. I though that the seat was hard plastic, but it's very firm rubber. There is cushion, and I didn't have any problems at all. I bought a gel cushion, but don't find that I need it.I was a bit worried about noise since my machine is in a hard room. But there is not much noise. I'm able to hear the TV from across the room.Overall, this is one... 5/5 J. Luu (Colorado Springs, CO) - See all my reviews, December 4, 2014

    Exercises Arms More Than Legs

It's easy to put together and works smoothly. The rower itself is decent, but depends on what you plan to use it for. If you are a beginning rower or plan to use it competitively or even to warm up before going out on the water, I would not recommend this product. Rowing is a leg sport and all the high end machines I've used are built with this in mind. This Stamina Air Rower however, had an issue with this concept; the resistance on the band didn't kick in until I was into the last part of my stroke (the arms). The basic pattern of a stroke is legs, back, arms. Your legs are supposed to do the hardest work because they fatigue the least, but because of where the highest amount of resistance kicked in, my arms did the bulk of the work and I tired out way too quick. If you buy it for general exercise or for therapeutic reasons, it's probably ok. Alternatively, if you are a regular rower and have been in shells this is not a device for you, not even for warming up -... 3/5 Urban Hermit (North Carolina) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Excellent rower for home gym

Customer Video Review Length:: 0:28 Mins This is an excellent rower, especially at this price point. It is second only to the Concept2, which is much more expensive and has a far larger footprint. I am a 5'4" woman and I work out regularly (heavy lifting and cardio). The Stamina Air Rower definitely gets my heart rate elevated and provides a very good leg workout so long as you row using the proper technique (otherwise you'll mostly get an arm workout). Assembly was very simple, but I do suggest having a 2nd person to help tighten the pedals. My cousin (5'8" male, incredibly fit) and I both use this rower daily. It fits perfectly in my tiny (10' x 10') home gym, along with my weight bench, assorted Olympic weights, other small equipment, and TV stand. It is loud, but all air rowers are loud. My home gym is in the basement. When using the rower, people upstairs hear what sounds like gentle snoring in a different room. I can use this rower early in the morning without... 5/5 Jen G. Very quiet, awesome workout, great machine!

Rowing is a great aerobic workout. You can exercise a bunch of muscle groups, elevate your heart rate, build stamina, and burn calories. After a good rowing workout, I just feel spent.Basically, there are three kinds of rowing machines. Some, like the , have flywheels that use air or water friction to provide resistance. Those are the closest to the experience of actual water rowing and their resistance increases the harder you pull, but they tend to be pricey and are somewhat loud. A second kind has to create resistance. That kind is inexpensive, but are often somewhat fragile. This is the third kind, with magnetic resistance, and it's great.The... 5/5 Joseph "jck09" (Cincinnati, OH USA) - See all my reviews, May 26, 2011

Received TWO defective units. Manufacturer can't write comprehensible English

After reading reviews of this rowing machine, I was thrilled to order one as my birthday present to myself. In college, I learned what great exercise rowing is; it exercises most muscle groups without pounding your knees or exposing you to traumatic injuries. I loved that this machine is so quiet I could watch TV while rowing. And I knew my wife would love that it folds up when not in use.Having now received TWO defective units -- the first with the pull cord on the side, not the middle, so it was being ripped to shreds with every pull, and the second with a monitor that gave me an "E1" error message the first time I turned it on and then refused to ever power on again -- I could not be more bitterly disappointed in this product that seemed so promising. I must have gotten unlucky that both units were defective. But any product with so high a defect rate that any customer could receive two defective units is unlikely to last long. The build quality is obvious just from the... 1/5 James Lavin "PatriotsBook.com: Management Sec... (Stamford, CT USA) - See all my reviews, July 19, 2011

    Perfect for the whole family!

We live in an area that doesn't have a gym, so this is the first rowing machine any of us has used. Keeping that in mind, this is coming from a novice point of view. The machine itself weighs about 90 pounds, and arrived needing assembly. All tools and materials were included, so it was just a matter of about 30 minutes to get the whole thing out of the box and assembled. The directions were clear and easy to follow. All pieces were made of heavy steel and the bolts were some of the biggest I have ever seen! The main part that houses the electronics has a plastic cover and is of a pleasing design and color. When fully extended and ready for working out on, the unit measures about 7 feet. The manufacturer's description said the unit can be folded for space saving when not in use. It does compact nicely, with measurements of 54"h x 34"d x 20"w and this is obtained by folding the unit up in front of the seat. The unit seems to be of good quality. The seat... 5/5 tweezle "tweezle" (Nittany Valley) - See all my reviews, June 10, 2011

0 4/5 Glariv "AL" (USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Best Choice Products® Rowing Machine Fitness Space Saver Pulley Row Low Impact Cario Workout Gym (Misc.) Be prepared to do some assembly work. It comes with lots of parts in a box which looks about large enough to fit a four slice bagel toaster. The assembly instructions are clear enough; it took us about thirty minutes to put together. You will need assistance at only one step.I was glad to get into exercise rowing for under one hundred dollars.Only two drawbacks that I could see.First; if you are over six feet, don't see how you can get a comfortable workout: there is not enough room for your legs to straighten out. Second, there is no tension adjustment. It has a pulley system; but that also means there is no cylinder to leak. I deducted one star for the computer. It has no instructions at all; you are on your own 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 15, 2014

0 2/5 Nate - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Best Choice Products® Rowing Machine Fitness Space Saver Pulley Row Low Impact Cario Workout Gym (Misc.) So this little machine is indeed, little. Super low to the floor and not very long in the glide seat bar. I'm 5'10" with short legs and I max out on the glide. It does roll smoothly and contrary to some other reviews Ive seen, I havent had an issue with it falling apart. The seller did have this advertised as a magnetic resistance rower, but it is just an elastic tension band. Pretty dissapointed on that front, but then again, this isnt a Concept2 or anything. All in all, not too bad but not great. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 23, 2014

0 2/5 Shelly ann - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: ProForm 440R Rower (Sports) My husband who is very mechanical put the rower together in about 20 minutes. It made an awful grinding noise when pulled on the handle.. My husband had to take the whole thing apart and open the only part that did come assembled. this entails removing a handful of very hard to get to screws and disconnecting the electronics. Once open we could see that the wheel inside was barely attached and misaligned. The wheel had holes randomly drilled in it and had been hammered on..We ended up having to set the wheel slightly out from the magnets in order to keep it from touching the roughness of the damaged wheel. Its all back together now and seems to work ok and is smooth and quiet. Im not sure we have the full use of the tension due to having to leave a bit more of a gap but its close. Not sure I would ever buy anything ProForm again now that we have seen the poor quality hidden inside. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 1, 2014
