About this book
Even in times as tough as these, you can still shape up like a celebrity, and you can do it without having to earn a celebrity paycheck. With over twenty years of experience in the field of fitness, Cornel Chin has used his unique training methods to train the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Colin Firth, Audrey Tautou, and Tilda Swinton. Now, through Celebrity Body on a Budget, he unlocks the keys to low-cost or no-cost exercise solutions. As a gym member, you'll spend an average of 3% of your annual salary on the cost of your yearly membership. For many people, this is a high cost that can no longer be afforded or justified. With Celebrity Body on a Budget, you can still achieve that "drop dead gorgeous" celebrity body you've always admired and desired without having to break the bank. "Cornel gave me the lean look I needed. His training methods are second to none!" ~ Leonardo DiCaprio "Training with Cornel helped me achieve the good muscle tone and definition I needed for my film character." ~ Audrey Tautou "I was no great fan of exercise until I met Cornel. He has given me a way of working out that is enjoyable, sustainable and effective. I'm enormously grateful to him for converting me." ~ Colin Firth

Customer Video Review Length:: 1:17 MinsSo far, so good. I was a little upset that there weren't any video reviews for this product, (youtube, from the company itself etc.) so I promised myself that I'd make a video demonstration for others to judge. The basic stuff you need to know: There are 12 levels of resistance (I was using resistance level 8).The computer tells you how many complete rows you have performed, time performed, calories burned or you can scan through all three (My computer didn't work when it first arrived, but after a solid punch it woke up and started working). The resistance is nice. You'll get a good workout with this inexpensive machine. Storage is convenient, but don't be fooled, 35 pounds is heavy to move around from room to room. Keep the machine close to where you plan on using it. Finally, the footstraps were a major complaint. My complaint about the footstraps is that it doesn't hold your feet securely against the footrests. The clicking noise you hear in... 5/5 Louie the Italian Jew "Lou da Joo" - See all my reviews, September 25, 2010

    I've had this for 1 1/2 years - still a great machine

I've used this machine for 45 min every other day for a year and a half. It is this only exercise that I do and I have seen remarkable results. I am 30 years old and I have lost thirty pounds of fat and have turned an average body type in an athletic one. My back and shoulders have especially benefited. Those are the results you can expect from using this low impact, compact, easy to use and actually pretty fun piece of exercise equipment - all form the comfort of your living room.As for the machine itself: Pros:It is sturdy - I am 6'2" and 190lbs (started at 220lbs) and have never had a problem with stability.I like the free rowing arms (as opposed to a bar like I've seen at gyms), gives the feel of a real row boat and also allows for exercising different parts of arms and back.Quick results - and probably quicker if I made some changes to my diet.Cons:Calorie counter sucks butt. Infact the computer in its entirety... 4/5 oddBobby (Dallas) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) A fantastic rower for this price!

0 5/5 Linda (United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Stamina Body Trac Glider 1050 Rowing Machine (Sports) .PROS:a. Real rowing (oar-like) action, rather than just pulling on a single T-bar.b. Comfortable even with tall people (I'm 6'1').c. Adjustable rowing tension.d. A very sturdy, rigid, and well-built frame.e. Easy to assemble.f. Takes little room to use.g. Very low cost (one hundred twenty dollars).CONS:a. The seat is not well padded.b. The unit creaks and squeaks a bit until it is warmed-up.c. No instructions explaining how to actually row properly. (I found some great videos and info on the Web, however, that instruct as to how to use rowing machines). You simply cannot beat this Stamina Body Trac Rowing Machine at this very low cost -- it is an amazing deal! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 20, 2006

This machine may save my life

I'm a former marathon runner who now has severe arthritic pain in both knees. Even walking long distances hurts. I transitioned to an elliptical machine, which was better, but still leaves me with some pain as there is still some weight bearing. I'd stopped exercising for the last few years, and have watched my weight balloon and my health start to decline. I'm so out of shape that housework and even climbing a flight of stair leaves me out of breath. I'm about 5'10" and a depressing 280 pounds of flab. So I'm basically starting from zero. I've talked to my doctor and orthopedist - both of which suggested swimming as an aerobic activity which won't stress my knees. No pool close to me so not an option. I found this machine by accident and was convinced by all the stellar reviews to try this. So here are my first impressions.Amazon had this delivered in two days via UPS. Concept2 Model D has advantages over BodyCraft VR500

After much research I bought the Concept2 Model D rower. Now I am very glad I did.I was comparing the following machines* Concept2 Model D ($900)* Concept2's Model E ($1100) which is higher off the groundand probably Concept2's strongest competitor on quality (but not price)...* BodyCraft VR500 (listed for $1900, usually on sale for $1500-1600)Also high off the ground like the Model E, and with a long monorail (both Concept2 models D and E also have an available longer monorail, for people with inseams of 38 inches/96.5cm or longer)I tested the Concept2 at my local YMCA before buying it (Concept2's website shows a listing of YMCA's with a Concept2 in your zip code). I also tested the BodyCraft VR500 at my local 2nd Wind Exercise Equipment store.I purchased the Polar H7 heart-rate monitor to work with the Concept2 , and the RowPro Software for the Concept2 after trialing it for 3 weekends... 5/5 Mark "Anonymous" (Minneapolis, MN) - See all my reviews This review is from: Concept2 Model D Indoor Rowing Machine with PM5 (Sports) After much research I bought the Concept2 Model D rower. Amazing.

I resisted all the black Friday deals on rowers and bought this one based on the positive reviews. I'm glad I did. Amazon shipped it to me in 2 days. Comes in a large box that weighs about 60 lbs. Very well packaged. Puts together with just 8 bolts. All the tools are included. Took 5 minutes.Despite the positive reviews, this item exceeded my expectations. The machine is extraordinarily solid. No wiggles or give what so ever. Just unbelievable for a 55 lb machine. The rowing motion is great. Clutch uptake is without slack. The slide is smooth. There are complaints about the seat being too hard. I though that the seat was hard plastic, but it's very firm rubber. There is cushion, and I didn't have any problems at all. I bought a gel cushion, but don't find that I need it.I was a bit worried about noise since my machine is in a hard room. But there is not much noise. I'm able to hear the TV from across the room.Overall, this is one... 5/5 J. Luu (Colorado Springs, CO) - See all my reviews, December 4, 2014

    like all rowers

Amazon isn't kidding when they say you save $89. This rower does indeed sell for more online. This is exactly what I wanted. A simple rower to get me moving. If you have "bad knees" you will want to determine how to support yourself when getting on and off the machine since it is, like all rowers, very close to the ground. This is a problem for me, I knew it would be, but I knew from experience (many years ago) that I would get a full body workout with a rower. Hopefully getting on and off will become easier with time. The rower does involve assembly. I am by no means mechanically inclined (ten thumbs) but I decided to make an attempt. I found the directions to be very good and I managed to put the rower together without any problems. I am normally so inept that my 'building' this rower makes me darn proud of myself. Translated-any one should be able to assemble this rower. I hope it stands up to wear but at this price, if it lasts a year of, hopefully, regular... 5/5 Madge (California) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) I love it!!

0 5/5 irishtoast - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Stamina InMotion Rower, Silver (Sports) I just got this today. All of my parts were there and the assembly was very easy. Just follow directions. It took me about 45 min to put together after unpacking. I am very glad I did not spend any more money on a rower than this. I am an ex long distance runner and I use an elliptical daily. I have bikes and weights but just needed to shake up my workout. I am a lightweight woman, not much upper body strength. There is a lot of resistance to this for someone my size and it is adjustable as you build up. This is would not be a rower for a high performance rower, but for someone like myself in my home gym it is perfect!! I doubt this would work for a very heavy person. It only weighs about 29 lbs. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 14, 2014

    very pleased

0 4/5 sunsplash - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Stamina InMotion Rower, Silver (Sports) This is so much better than I expected for the price! I must be weaker than I thought because the lowest setting is a serious workout for me, lol. It took about 30-45 minutes to assemble by myself. I thought there were two missing screws and two missing washers but they were preassembled into the pedal bar. Also, some of the parts were not labelled in the list and I had to go by the pictures in the instruction manual which was a little frustrating...for example, telling me to put part xyz into abc, but xyz isn't listed on the parts list. Obviously you can figure it out, especially since I'm not the most assembly inclined, but I expect each part to be explicitly shown if later referenced. The seat is a little wobbly on the track but not enough to throw you off balance. I'm about 5'4 and 120lbs and my husband is 6'1 and 250lbs and we can both use this comfortably, so it has a decent range. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 19, 2015

    an exceptional machine

The waterrower is an excellent machine that is exceptionally designed and provides an outstanding workout. I have owned one for about 10 years, and my wife and I both use it regularly. In the entire time I've owned it, the only parts I've had to replace have been the monitor batteries and the double-sided tape that fastens the monitor wire brackets to the frame. I found the workout it provides to be deceptive at first--until I stood up after using it the first several times, I didn't realize just how intense the workout had been! If you've used other rowing machines, you're in for a treat when you try this one--there is absolutely no shock to the shoulders or arms at the beginning of a stroke (even from rest). The footrest is rock solid and easily adjustable for foot size; the frame is long enough to accommodate very tall rowers (I've had friends up to 6' 4" use it without banging into the stops); the components are rugged and last a long time (at least 10 years so far); and the... 5/5 nucpiper "RNS" (SW Michigan) - See all my reviews This review is from: WaterRower Natural Rowing Machine in Ash Wood with S4 Monitor (Sports) The waterrower is an excellent machine that is exceptionally designed and provides an outstanding workout. Ok but with some reservations, limited comparison w Concept 2

Update - Water rower sent me a new sensor and disk which fixed the computer. It was relatively easy to install. I would like to upgrade my rating to 4. Everyone likes it and uses it. Why not a five? My remaining nits, which really shouldn't discourage people from buying it are:1) The footrests. Yup still catches the shoes, even though I changed to ones with narrower heels. I think they could fix this by angling the edges outwards. A bit more substantive design would also be nice.2) The computer - Its kinda basic. It will count calories per hour as you row, but won't give you a total calorie count. Additionally, I use the rower when watching movies in the dark. It would be great if there were a backlight just to check how you are doing. I use my cellphone light to check.3) I've figured out why the feel of the pull is not perfectly smooth. Basically, there is a wheel where the strap goes around (imagine a ribbon wound around a wheel). The strap slips... 3/5 Seahug - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Best rower on the market

I researched rowing machines for a while before deciding on this one. I was a competitive rower in college, and used to use the rowing tanks (for technique) and the Concept2 ergometers (for fitness). I always thought that there must be a way to combine the true feel of rowing with a rowing machine. Part of why rowing was so attractive to me was the feeling of pulling the blade through the water, the sound of the water, as well as the tremendous workout you can expect.Fast-forward about 20 years, and I was trying to find a decent rowing machine for my home gym (that is to say, the FIRST piece of equipment for my planned home gym!). I had my mind set on a Concept2, as that is what I used at various gyms throughout the years, as well as when I was rowing competitively. I almost pulled the trigger, however, I decided to check out some comparisons, as well as do my due diligence on an expensive purpose. I found that the WaterRower was highly recommended, even by Olympic-class... 5/5 siddhartha "siddhartha" (Northern Virginia, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: WaterRower Natural Rowing Machine in Ash Wood with S4 Monitor (Sports) I researched rowing machines for a while before deciding on this one.
