About this book
Even in times as tough as these, you can still shape up like a celebrity, and you can do it without having to earn a celebrity paycheck. With over twenty years of experience in the field of fitness, Cornel Chin has used his unique training methods to train the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Colin Firth, Audrey Tautou, and Tilda Swinton. Now, through Celebrity Body on a Budget, he unlocks the keys to low-cost or no-cost exercise solutions. As a gym member, you'll spend an average of 3% of your annual salary on the cost of your yearly membership. For many people, this is a high cost that can no longer be afforded or justified. With Celebrity Body on a Budget, you can still achieve that "drop dead gorgeous" celebrity body you've always admired and desired without having to break the bank. "Cornel gave me the lean look I needed. His training methods are second to none!" ~ Leonardo DiCaprio "Training with Cornel helped me achieve the good muscle tone and definition I needed for my film character." ~ Audrey Tautou "I was no great fan of exercise until I met Cornel. He has given me a way of working out that is enjoyable, sustainable and effective. I'm enormously grateful to him for converting me." ~ Colin Firth

Customer Video Review Length:: 1:17 MinsSo far, so good. I was a little upset that there weren't any video reviews for this product, (youtube, from the company itself etc.) so I promised myself that I'd make a video demonstration for others to judge. The basic stuff you need to know: There are 12 levels of resistance (I was using resistance level 8).The computer tells you how many complete rows you have performed, time performed, calories burned or you can scan through all three (My computer didn't work when it first arrived, but after a solid punch it woke up and started working). The resistance is nice. You'll get a good workout with this inexpensive machine. Storage is convenient, but don't be fooled, 35 pounds is heavy to move around from room to room. Keep the machine close to where you plan on using it. Finally, the footstraps were a major complaint. My complaint about the footstraps is that it doesn't hold your feet securely against the footrests. The clicking noise you hear in... 5/5 Louie the Italian Jew "Lou da Joo" - See all my reviews, September 25, 2010

0 5/5 Linda (United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Stamina Body Trac Glider 1050 Rowing Machine (Sports) .PROS:a. Real rowing (oar-like) action, rather than just pulling on a single T-bar.b. Comfortable even with tall people (I'm 6'1').c. Adjustable rowing tension.d. A very sturdy, rigid, and well-built frame.e. Easy to assemble.f. Takes little room to use.g. Very low cost (one hundred twenty dollars).CONS:a. The seat is not well padded.b. The unit creaks and squeaks a bit until it is warmed-up.c. No instructions explaining how to actually row properly. (I found some great videos and info on the Web, however, that instruct as to how to use rowing machines). You simply cannot beat this Stamina Body Trac Rowing Machine at this very low cost -- it is an amazing deal! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 20, 2006

    I've had this for 1 1/2 years - still a great machine

I've used this machine for 45 min every other day for a year and a half. It is this only exercise that I do and I have seen remarkable results. I am 30 years old and I have lost thirty pounds of fat and have turned an average body type in an athletic one. My back and shoulders have especially benefited. Those are the results you can expect from using this low impact, compact, easy to use and actually pretty fun piece of exercise equipment - all form the comfort of your living room.As for the machine itself: Pros:It is sturdy - I am 6'2" and 190lbs (started at 220lbs) and have never had a problem with stability.I like the free rowing arms (as opposed to a bar like I've seen at gyms), gives the feel of a real row boat and also allows for exercising different parts of arms and back.Quick results - and probably quicker if I made some changes to my diet.Cons:Calorie counter sucks butt. Infact the computer in its entirety... 4/5 oddBobby (Dallas) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Simple, effective and reasonably robust but has a flaw

I was pleasantly surprised and excited when this rowing machine first arrived. It was well packed and the frame, supports and track were of reasonable gauge steel. I tried it out and after 5 minutes of use I was hearing a click and feeling a notch each time I took a stroke. The click was coming from the area of the piston where a metal pin secures the piston to the handle. I removed the pin and saw that it was damaged. I did not see any damage when I first installed it. There were two grooves and some marks on the pin from where it was rubbing on the frame (metal on metal). The pin is made from soft metal and if it can be grooved after 5 minutes of use I can't imagine that it's going to last very long. Also, the Amazon product description includes "Adjustable foot straps." I did not receive any foot straps. It's possible that Amazon made a mistake and the machine does not come with foot straps because I don't see any in the product picture. It is disappointing to get a new... 3/5 John E. The greatest at any price!

FedEx just delivered my Sunny Health and Fitness Rowing Machine which was shipped in an excellent outer box with absolutely no holes or rips in it! The rower is completely assembled except for the handle bars which bolted on quickly with the enclosed wrench and 2 big bolts. I installed the console which was a simple slide on affair with a simple wire plug in. I never use consoles but I installed it anyway....it came with batteries included! There were no straps to hold the feet on an NONE ARE NEEDED!The seat isn't the best in the world but solid and glides easily and smoothly. I might add a small cushion for longer sessions. The hydraulic piston adjusts easily and goes from real easy to real difficult. So far I am estatic about my rower, but time will tell if I remain so. Am 86 years old and after a few minutes on the 2nd setting, I can feel the muscles in my thighs complaining, which is proof positive that the rower is doing the job it is intended for... 5/5 Melvin H. This machine may save my life

I'm a former marathon runner who now has severe arthritic pain in both knees. Even walking long distances hurts. I transitioned to an elliptical machine, which was better, but still leaves me with some pain as there is still some weight bearing. I'd stopped exercising for the last few years, and have watched my weight balloon and my health start to decline. I'm so out of shape that housework and even climbing a flight of stair leaves me out of breath. I'm about 5'10" and a depressing 280 pounds of flab. So I'm basically starting from zero. I've talked to my doctor and orthopedist - both of which suggested swimming as an aerobic activity which won't stress my knees. No pool close to me so not an option. I found this machine by accident and was convinced by all the stellar reviews to try this. So here are my first impressions.Amazon had this delivered in two days via UPS. Amazing.

I resisted all the black Friday deals on rowers and bought this one based on the positive reviews. I'm glad I did. Amazon shipped it to me in 2 days. Comes in a large box that weighs about 60 lbs. Very well packaged. Puts together with just 8 bolts. All the tools are included. Took 5 minutes.Despite the positive reviews, this item exceeded my expectations. The machine is extraordinarily solid. No wiggles or give what so ever. Just unbelievable for a 55 lb machine. The rowing motion is great. Clutch uptake is without slack. The slide is smooth. There are complaints about the seat being too hard. I though that the seat was hard plastic, but it's very firm rubber. There is cushion, and I didn't have any problems at all. I bought a gel cushion, but don't find that I need it.I was a bit worried about noise since my machine is in a hard room. But there is not much noise. I'm able to hear the TV from across the room.Overall, this is one... 5/5 J. Luu (Colorado Springs, CO) - See all my reviews, December 4, 2014

Started Good, Now Disappointing, Maybe Dangerous

We just assembled our new Stamina 1215 Orbital Rower. It took about an hour and a half. The machine feels pretty sturdy to me. Is it worth $279? Hard to say, but with everything so overpriced these days, who knows? The acid test is usually how long something lasts, so it will be worth the money if it gives several years of good service. I've done my first half hour of rowing and it's a fairly smooth action and relatively quiet. On some sites, a few people complained that the lowest setting is too tough for beginners, and I agree. But you can set the arms even a little lower than the bottom number, and this helps. I've had two rowing machines in the past and this one is as good or better than they were. I like the ability to set the back of the bar up higher which aids in getting off and on the rower. I was concerned about the 'orbital' action of the arms, but find it's easy to adjust to, and in effect, you can just row as normal and not use the orbital ability at all. 0 4/5 Sailor Don "Rower man" - See all my reviews This review is from: Stamina 1215 Orbital Rowing Machine with Free Motion Arms (Sports) After using this exercise machine for about a month (9 total exercise hours), I have found it is basically a good machine for the price. After 4 hours of use, one of the hydraulic shocks developed a "dead spot" at the start of the stroke. I called the Stamina toll free number for customer support. They sent out a replacement shock which seems to be working OK.The 4 roller wheels on the seat slide are molded plastic. They aren't exactly round so they "rumble" a little bit. It would be nice if they were smooth without mold marks on the running surfaces. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 30, 2008

Very quiet, awesome workout, great machine!

Rowing is a great aerobic workout. You can exercise a bunch of muscle groups, elevate your heart rate, build stamina, and burn calories. After a good rowing workout, I just feel spent.Basically, there are three kinds of rowing machines. Some, like the , have flywheels that use air or water friction to provide resistance. Those are the closest to the experience of actual water rowing and their resistance increases the harder you pull, but they tend to be pricey and are somewhat loud. A second kind has to create resistance. That kind is inexpensive, but are often somewhat fragile. This is the third kind, with magnetic resistance, and it's great.The... 5/5 Joseph "jck09" (Cincinnati, OH USA) - See all my reviews, May 26, 2011

Received TWO defective units. Manufacturer can't write comprehensible English

After reading reviews of this rowing machine, I was thrilled to order one as my birthday present to myself. In college, I learned what great exercise rowing is; it exercises most muscle groups without pounding your knees or exposing you to traumatic injuries. I loved that this machine is so quiet I could watch TV while rowing. And I knew my wife would love that it folds up when not in use.Having now received TWO defective units -- the first with the pull cord on the side, not the middle, so it was being ripped to shreds with every pull, and the second with a monitor that gave me an "E1" error message the first time I turned it on and then refused to ever power on again -- I could not be more bitterly disappointed in this product that seemed so promising. I must have gotten unlucky that both units were defective. But any product with so high a defect rate that any customer could receive two defective units is unlikely to last long. The build quality is obvious just from the... 1/5 James Lavin "PatriotsBook.com: Management Sec... (Stamford, CT USA) - See all my reviews, July 19, 2011

    Perfect for the whole family!

We live in an area that doesn't have a gym, so this is the first rowing machine any of us has used. Keeping that in mind, this is coming from a novice point of view. The machine itself weighs about 90 pounds, and arrived needing assembly. All tools and materials were included, so it was just a matter of about 30 minutes to get the whole thing out of the box and assembled. The directions were clear and easy to follow. All pieces were made of heavy steel and the bolts were some of the biggest I have ever seen! The main part that houses the electronics has a plastic cover and is of a pleasing design and color. When fully extended and ready for working out on, the unit measures about 7 feet. The manufacturer's description said the unit can be folded for space saving when not in use. It does compact nicely, with measurements of 54"h x 34"d x 20"w and this is obtained by folding the unit up in front of the seat. The unit seems to be of good quality. 0 2/5 Shelly ann - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: ProForm 440R Rower (Sports) My husband who is very mechanical put the rower together in about 20 minutes. It made an awful grinding noise when pulled on the handle.. My husband had to take the whole thing apart and open the only part that did come assembled. this entails removing a handful of very hard to get to screws and disconnecting the electronics. Once open we could see that the wheel inside was barely attached and misaligned. The wheel had holes randomly drilled in it and had been hammered on..We ended up having to set the wheel slightly out from the magnets in order to keep it from touching the roughness of the damaged wheel. Its all back together now and seems to work ok and is smooth and quiet. Im not sure we have the full use of the tension due to having to leave a bit more of a gap but its close. Not sure I would ever buy anything ProForm again now that we have seen the poor quality hidden inside. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 1, 2014

The handlebar is a bit skinny and if you are rowing for more than 15 minutes it definitely gets tedious to hold onto. The other problem is the seat. It is horrible. It is so bad that after 15-20 minutes of rowing I have to stop and stretch out my hamstrings and glutes. I have a rather boney butt and this seat digs into the muscles something fierce. For the money I would say it's a good purchase, the piece is solid, the display isn't exactly what I am used to but overall it's not bad. My husband is just over 200 lbs and 6' and he uses it almost daily. So far we haven't had any problems with it at all. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 26, 2015

    good piece of equipment

0 3/5 Christopher J. Golinski (East Amherst) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Stamina X Air Rowing Machine (Sports) good piece of equipment. Make sure you have the fan wheel mechanism tight to the main bar, otherwise the chain may fall off the spokes. If that happens it is very difficult to get it back on. It happened to me and took a 1/2 hour to fix with two people. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 21, 2015
