About this book
Even in times as tough as these, you can still shape up like a celebrity, and you can do it without having to earn a celebrity paycheck. With over twenty years of experience in the field of fitness, Cornel Chin has used his unique training methods to train the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Colin Firth, Audrey Tautou, and Tilda Swinton. Now, through Celebrity Body on a Budget, he unlocks the keys to low-cost or no-cost exercise solutions. As a gym member, you'll spend an average of 3% of your annual salary on the cost of your yearly membership. For many people, this is a high cost that can no longer be afforded or justified. With Celebrity Body on a Budget, you can still achieve that "drop dead gorgeous" celebrity body you've always admired and desired without having to break the bank. "Cornel gave me the lean look I needed. His training methods are second to none!" ~ Leonardo DiCaprio "Training with Cornel helped me achieve the good muscle tone and definition I needed for my film character." ~ Audrey Tautou "I was no great fan of exercise until I met Cornel. He has given me a way of working out that is enjoyable, sustainable and effective. I'm enormously grateful to him for converting me." ~ Colin Firth

Simple, effective and reasonably robust but has a flaw

I was pleasantly surprised and excited when this rowing machine first arrived. It was well packed and the frame, supports and track were of reasonable gauge steel. I tried it out and after 5 minutes of use I was hearing a click and feeling a notch each time I took a stroke. The click was coming from the area of the piston where a metal pin secures the piston to the handle. I removed the pin and saw that it was damaged. I did not see any damage when I first installed it. There were two grooves and some marks on the pin from where it was rubbing on the frame (metal on metal). The pin is made from soft metal and if it can be grooved after 5 minutes of use I can't imagine that it's going to last very long. Also, the Amazon product description includes "Adjustable foot straps." I did not receive any foot straps. It's possible that Amazon made a mistake and the machine does not come with foot straps because I don't see any in the product picture. It is disappointing to get a new... 3/5 John E. The greatest at any price!

FedEx just delivered my Sunny Health and Fitness Rowing Machine which was shipped in an excellent outer box with absolutely no holes or rips in it! The rower is completely assembled except for the handle bars which bolted on quickly with the enclosed wrench and 2 big bolts. I installed the console which was a simple slide on affair with a simple wire plug in. I never use consoles but I installed it anyway....it came with batteries included! There were no straps to hold the feet on an NONE ARE NEEDED!The seat isn't the best in the world but solid and glides easily and smoothly. I might add a small cushion for longer sessions. The hydraulic piston adjusts easily and goes from real easy to real difficult. So far I am estatic about my rower, but time will tell if I remain so. Am 86 years old and after a few minutes on the 2nd setting, I can feel the muscles in my thighs complaining, which is proof positive that the rower is doing the job it is intended for... 5/5 Melvin H. Demo of Stamina Rower

Customer Video Review Length:: 1:16 MinsSo far, so good. I was a little upset that there weren't any video reviews for this product, (youtube, from the company itself etc.) so I promised myself that I'd make a video demonstration for others to judge. The basic stuff you need to know: There are 12 levels of resistance (I was using resistance level 8).The computer tells you how many complete rows you have performed, time performed, calories burned or you can scan through all three (My computer didn't work when it first arrived, but after a solid punch it woke up and started working). The resistance is nice. You'll get a good workout with this inexpensive machine. Storage is convenient, but don't be fooled, 35 pounds is heavy to move around from room to room. Keep the machine close to where you plan on using it. Finally, the footstraps were a major complaint. My complaint about the footstraps is that it doesn't hold your feet securely against the footrests. Easy to assemble.f. Takes little room to use.g. Very low cost (one hundred twenty dollars).CONS:a. The seat is not well padded.b. The unit creaks and squeaks a bit until it is warmed-up.c. No instructions explaining how to actually row properly. Started Good, Now Disappointing, Maybe Dangerous

We just assembled our new Stamina 1215 Orbital Rower. It took about an hour and a half. The machine feels pretty sturdy to me. Is it worth $279? Hard to say, but with everything so overpriced these days, who knows? The acid test is usually how long something lasts, so it will be worth the money if it gives several years of good service. I've done my first half hour of rowing and it's a fairly smooth action and relatively quiet. On some sites, a few people complained that the lowest setting is too tough for beginners, and I agree. But you can set the arms even a little lower than the bottom number, and this helps. I've had two rowing machines in the past and this one is as good or better than they were. I like the ability to set the back of the bar up higher which aids in getting off and on the rower. I was concerned about the 'orbital' action of the arms, but find it's easy to adjust to, and in effect, you can just row as normal and not use the orbital ability at all. I'm... 5/5 marquis (New England) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) 0 4/5 Sailor Don "Rower man" - See all my reviews This review is from: Stamina 1215 Orbital Rowing Machine with Free Motion Arms (Sports) After using this exercise machine for about a month (9 total exercise hours), I have found it is basically a good machine for the price. After 4 hours of use, one of the hydraulic shocks developed a "dead spot" at the start of the stroke. I called the Stamina toll free number for customer support. They sent out a replacement shock which seems to be working OK.The 4 roller wheels on the seat slide are molded plastic. They aren't exactly round so they "rumble" a little bit. It would be nice if they were smooth without mold marks on the running surfaces. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 30, 2008

Very quiet, awesome workout, great machine!

Rowing is a great aerobic workout. You can exercise a bunch of muscle groups, elevate your heart rate, build stamina, and burn calories. After a good rowing workout, I just feel spent.Basically, there are three kinds of rowing machines. Some, like the , have flywheels that use air or water friction to provide resistance. Those are the closest to the experience of actual water rowing and their resistance increases the harder you pull, but they tend to be pricey and are somewhat loud. A second kind has to create resistance. That kind is inexpensive, but are often somewhat fragile. This is the third kind, with magnetic resistance, and it's great.The... 5/5 Joseph "jck09" (Cincinnati, OH USA) - See all my reviews, May 26, 2011

Received TWO defective units. Manufacturer can't write comprehensible English

After reading reviews of this rowing machine, I was thrilled to order one as my birthday present to myself. In college, I learned what great exercise rowing is; it exercises most muscle groups without pounding your knees or exposing you to traumatic injuries. I loved that this machine is so quiet I could watch TV while rowing. And I knew my wife would love that it folds up when not in use.Having now received TWO defective units -- the first with the pull cord on the side, not the middle, so it was being ripped to shreds with every pull, and the second with a monitor that gave me an "E1" error message the first time I turned it on and then refused to ever power on again -- I could not be more bitterly disappointed in this product that seemed so promising. I must have gotten unlucky that both units were defective. But any product with so high a defect rate that any customer could receive two defective units is unlikely to last long. The build quality is obvious just from the... 1/5 James Lavin "PatriotsBook.com: Management Sec... (Stamford, CT USA) - See all my reviews, July 19, 2011

    Perfect for the whole family!

We live in an area that doesn't have a gym, so this is the first rowing machine any of us has used. Keeping that in mind, this is coming from a novice point of view. The machine itself weighs about 90 pounds, and arrived needing assembly. All tools and materials were included, so it was just a matter of about 30 minutes to get the whole thing out of the box and assembled. The directions were clear and easy to follow. All pieces were made of heavy steel and the bolts were some of the biggest I have ever seen! The main part that houses the electronics has a plastic cover and is of a pleasing design and color. When fully extended and ready for working out on, the unit measures about 7 feet. The manufacturer's description said the unit can be folded for space saving when not in use. It does compact nicely, with measurements of 54"h x 34"d x 20"w and this is obtained by folding the unit up in front of the seat. The unit seems to be of good quality. The seat... 5/5 T. Great exercise machine, exceeds high expectations

I expected a lot from my Model D, and upon receipt and using it for over two months it does not disappoint. In fact, I am still impressed by not only the build quality (this baby was built to last) but also the information available to the user. I am somewhat of a gear head and love the metrics I can easily get out of the PM4 directly. I can track power in several different ways, display a pace boat, time for a certain distance or distance for a certain time. It certainly promotes progress, for example every week I try to beat my previous personal best for 500m (sprint), 2000m, and 5000m.The Concept2 is quieter than I anticipated, one can easily hear a TV over the sound of the machine (but I use and recommend wireless headphones). The action is very smooth, and was more of a "natural" motion than I thought. I had no problem rowing smoothly after watching several videos on YouTube and on the Concept2 web site. I am sure it would be beneficial for anyone to... 5/5 Richard M. Afflitto (Pompton Plains, NJ United States) - See all my reviews, August 4, 2013

    BEST exercise machine out there!

I have owned a Model B, Model C, Model D and now a Model E (tall version of Model D). The current rendition of this rower is fantastic! The first thing that stands out is how quiet they have made it. Yes, it still sounds like a fan, but the Model B sounded like a jet engine compared to the Model D. The Model C was much quieter, but still louder then the Model D. But it only gets better...The current PM4 meter is an amazing unit. With this meter you can log workouts to a credit-card sized 'log card', and using an option reader upload it to the Concept 2 website to see how you rank against others. You can also take that card 'on the road' to other Model D's and retain all your workout info from any place you row. In addition, you can program custom workouts, row to standard set pieces, row to games, or just plain row.The PM4 meter also interfaces directly with some ANT+ HRM's, allowing you to do heart rate training right with just a chest belt and have ti... 5/5 D. A Great Rower

I ride dirt bikes, and this machine offers the perfect workout for the areas I need help with most. Shoulders, Back and Arms. Some people say the legs get a good workout as well, but I would say that is not the case. Very little benefit to the legs, but it is easy on the knees.Overall the Concept2 Model E is a great machine. I am glad I chose this over the Model D just for the higher stance, PM4 and maintenace free (except for oil) chain. The machine came delivered in two boxes, both of which were pretty beat up when they arrived, but nothing was damaged.Putting the machine together took me about 30 minutes, and the instructions were OK. For the money I paid for this machine, I was hoping for a little bit better overall quality. Some of the screws did not line up really well with some of the holes for assembly. I may have even stripped one trying to get it in there, but it seems to be holding on ok. Also there is more plastic than I thought there would have... 4/5 J.
