Exactly what I was hoping it would be

This little exerciser fits right under my desk, and when it's on its mat, it does not move around on the floor (wood) at all. The noise level is pretty quiet--just a low-level ssssss, but I work at home, so I'm not sure how it would play in a cubicle setting. It was easy to assemble.I, too, found that the tension setting doesn't make much of a difference, although it got a little tighter with more turns that I would have thought necessary. But sitting here pedaling away for a half hour felt like it lasted about a minute as I surfed and worked and allegedly--according to the calorie counter--burned about 250 calories. I did break a sweat in my air-conditioned livingroom. I expect to find myself pedaling off and on all day without even thinking about it, and I don't have to leave my work and carve out a half hour or an hour to get in a bit of daily exercise. That leaves me all the more time for my kids and family time when everyone gets home from school and work... 5/5 Biogrrl (Denver) - See all my reviews This little exerciser fits right under my desk, and when it's on its mat, it does not move around on the floor (wood) at all. Great Way to Get in Computer Time & Combat Diabetes

I've seen a lot of people mention problems with the tension on this and there is an easy fix for that. When you first get the unit the band that controls the tensions tends to stretch out a bit, after the initial stretch if you make this adjustment you shouldn't have to do it again for a very long time. There are 2 screws on the sides below each pedal, remove these and the plastic piece slides out from below the pedal. There is one screw in the center of the tension control nob, remove that then pull the nob off (it may be a little tight as mine was). Remove the calorie meter and there should be a button release to detatch the cable. Now the whole cowling of the unit should slide right off. Turn the tension knob as far out as it will go (counterclockwise). You will find a strap and latch, very similar to ones you might find on a backpack. Release the latch, and pull the strap till it is tight, then close the latch. Now reverse the process to re-assemble and you should be good... 4/5 Andrew C. Great Product; be careful with shipping!

We ordered this product to help in a revamping of our exercise program, and it is absolutely great in that mission. The device assembles very easily and quickly; 15 minutes or less if you lay the parts out. There are two major assemblies, and you just attach the seat and put the two pieces together. In action, the device is smooth and quiet, and it can give you a very good workout in a relatively short period of time. The electronics package is good; the only issue some may have is that changing rowing resistance doesn't appear to change the calorie count. The only problem we had was with Amazon in shipping. This is shipped in two boxes but for some reason Amazon seems to lose sight of that fact on its own tracking. If the two boxes become separated (which ours did) and only one is delivered, they show status as "delivered". I called customer service to try to get them to help with the other box and they continually insisted that the order was one box and was... 5/5 T. Good rower, not the best

I bought my LifeSpan rower about a year ago and have used it a lot with no major problems. It does the job and seems to be a good value for the money, but it definately is not a performance rower.PROS:CheapCompactFolds EasilySimple Digital Display lasts a very long time one one batteryCONS:No chain, the pull mechanism is a strap of fabric.Plastic wheels support the seat and pull movement. Mine have note worn out yet but they're not that smooth and they do feel as if they have worn down significantly during the year that I have used my rower. The pull movement creates no momentum as with a fan or water resisting model, so you really cant build up much inertia and each pull feels like you're starting from a stp, which is not mych like real rowing. All in all it's a good unit but if you're looking for something that will really take a beating and last a long time and also emulate the feel of rowing much better,... 3/5 James D. Customer Video Review Length:: 1:16 MinsSo far, so good. I was a little upset that there weren't any video reviews for this product, (youtube, from the company itself etc.) so I promised myself that I'd make a video demonstration for others to judge. The basic stuff you need to know: There are 12 levels of resistance (I was using resistance level 8).The computer tells you how many complete rows you have performed, time performed, calories burned or you can scan through all three (My computer didn't work when it first arrived, but after a solid punch it woke up and started working). The resistance is nice. You'll get a good workout with this inexpensive machine. Storage is convenient, but don't be fooled, 35 pounds is heavy to move around from room to room. Keep the machine close to where you plan on using it. Finally, the footstraps were a major complaint. My complaint about the footstraps is that it doesn't hold your feet securely against the footrests. The clicking noise you hear in... 5/5 Louie the Italian Jew "Lou da Joo" (New York, NY) - See all my reviews, September 25, 2010

Real rowing (oar-like) action, rather than just pulling on a single T-bar.b. Comfortable even with tall people (I'm 6'1').c. Adjustable rowing tension.d. A very sturdy, rigid, and well-built frame.e. Easy to assemble.f. Takes little room to use.g. Very low cost (one hundred twenty dollars).CONS:a. The seat is not well padded.b. The unit creaks and squeaks a bit until it is warmed-up.c. No instructions explaining how to actually row properly. (I found some great videos and info on the Web, however, that instruct as to how to use rowing machines). You simply cannot beat this Stamina Body Trac Rowing Machine at this very low cost -- it is an amazing deal! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 20, 2006

Intregal part of my 75 pound weight loss!!!

I own the Concept 2 Model D. I purchased it last year after an exhausting field and internet search. I "casually" used it for several months until a few months ago when I became very serious about losing weight. I now use the rower 5 to 6 times a week 30 minutes minimum- with an average of 45 minutes and occasionally (usually Saturday mornings) a 60 minute workout. I do not overdue the individual workouts, and maintain about a 23 stroke per minute rhythm.I chose this rower for several reasons. First, the great reviews on internet websites. Secondly, I was very impressed with the sales associate. He did not try to "oversell" me, instead he convinced me that for my needs the model D was more than sufficient. Third, I was fortunate enough to try one out at a friends home gym- I was impressed. Lastly- this is a high quality machine- very sturdy and well designed.I utilize this machine, along with a low carb diet and walking 3-4 miles 2 to 3 times a week, to... 5/5 D. You need go no further than a major crew regatta such as the Head of the Charles to understand why Concept2 rowers are regarded as the best available. Generally there are only a few rower manufacturers represented in vendor alley, and the one with the crowd will be Concept2. Found in crew boathouses everywhere, not only are they well-built and smooth, but can even be linked together to work in unison for training purposes. It's actually quite amazing to see in action. Concept2 also has an enormously enthusiastic user base that competes across the world. That's indoor rower competition! You'll also find Concept2 rowers in gyms everywhere - they're very tough.Concept2 makes two models. They are actually fairly close in specs and the pricing difference is a few hundred dollars. Killer Workout

About me: I am 50 year old chick just trying to hang on to what I got. I have have two herniated disks in the past, compete in triathlons and trying to stay in decent shape without too much time commitment. I swore off the local gym due to distance, cost, germs and just ridiculous drama. Since then I have been "piecing together my basement gym". I have all of my equipment from Craigslist, but the C2's just never come up for sale. I had decided to add some hard hitting cardio to my workout; I did a bunch of research and came up with "rowing".Initially, I knew ZERO about rowing, so I read EVERY AMAZON review, watched every YOUTUBE video. I will say it is not very often that I will pull the trigger on a $900 purchase sight unseen, but I did confidently with this purchase. With that being said, I can honestly say this piece of equipment has humbled me. I got off after my first 2000m in 9 minutes and my muscles were screaming and I was so hooked. Where else can you... 5/5 Always Summertime "Lifetime Amazon Customer" (Wash, DC) - See all my reviews, January 21, 2012

I have been a personal fitness trainer for many years and at first I too was a skeptic about the whole resistance rod thing. I have read other reviews where people who bought this particular unit say that 210lbs is not enough weight to get a good work out.I would suggest to those of you who think you need more weight than that to try slowing the motion of your reps on whatever exercise you are doing way, way down. Say for instance you are doing bicep curls: As you curl up, do so with a slow count of 8. At the bottom of the movement start the count at one, then SLOWY curl it up to the top of the movement ending on eight, then do the same on the way back down to the bottom of the movement to get the negative resistance, which makes each single rep more like two reps both positive and negative, up then down. This will cause you to have to MUSCLE the weight up and down as opposed to using momentum. I would also suggest that you try working each muscle group to... 4/5 Ellery King (Newy York, NY) - See all my reviews, February 5, 2010

    Great Product

This just arrived today. Took about 2 hours to assemble, but it's pretty easy. I almost bought this from another site, because they were going to assemble it (would've been 200 extra dollars for that) and I am very glad I did it myself. This unit is extremely sturdy and well put together. I was a bit nervous to buy this because I have young kids I did not want to trash it. Believe me, they couldn't! This is far too well-designed and durable.Worked out for about an hour, and I love it. Lots of exercises you can do (both muscular and cardio) and you can really feel it.As others have noted on other models, I can see how the weights (200 lbs) might not be enough, but I am not looking to become the Incredible Hulk. This unit is perfect to stay fit and not let those holiday meals get the upper hand.I really recommend this to anyone who wants to work at home and does not want to be bored with the same old routine (treadmill, stationary bike,... 5/5 Warpspeed (MA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Bowflex PR1000 Home Gym (Sports) This just arrived today. The Perils of Reviews

Every time you come across a product like this, you start losing faith in the trustworthiness of Amazon reviews, because your experience and that of the rave reviewers couldn't be more diametrically opposed. You can't help wonder if these people are on the company payroll, got "lucky", or merely posted a review before they really got a chance to use this item. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they've yet to really use the product long enough to give an accurate appraisal of it. With that being said, judging from my experience and that of the two negative reviewers with similar problems, I would heartily suggest taking the rave reviews with a grain of salt.Long story short: bought the bike sight unseen due to the positive ratings. The bike assembled beautifully and seemed to have a solid build, not to mention looked wonderful, too. Great bike, incredible value!

Ordered this bike because I'm so busy at work these days I'm lucky if I get to the gym once a week. This exercise bike guarantees me that I can work out 2 days per week on the weekends and hopefully once or twice per week at the gym gives me my minimum total of 4x week.Based on the 2 earlier reviews, I ordered this bike. I hate to put things together but they made it sound so easy. It took me an hour (I read, look it over, read some more then gulp then screw something in). Luckily it was a breeze to put it together -- they make it easy by taping all the screws, tools and items on a cardboard. You can't really lose anything unless you work at it. It took me an hour to put it together, my partner had to help a little with the spring. The bike itself is so sturdy, comfortable and wonderful, I'm in shock. It's like using a bike at my $3,000/year company-paid gym. I'm not kidding. I put in on a rug that fits perfectly in front of a TV in the master bedroom... 5/5 Patricia Goldsmith (Island Park, NY USA) - See all my reviews, March 28, 2010
