Started Good, Now Disappointing, Maybe Dangerous

We just assembled our new Stamina 1215 Orbital Rower. It took about an hour and a half. The machine feels pretty sturdy to me. Is it worth $279? Hard to say, but with everything so overpriced these days, who knows? The acid test is usually how long something lasts, so it will be worth the money if it gives several years of good service. I've done my first half hour of rowing and it's a fairly smooth action and relatively quiet. On some sites, a few people complained that the lowest setting is too tough for beginners, and I agree. But you can set the arms even a little lower than the bottom number, and this helps. I've had two rowing machines in the past and this one is as good or better than they were. I like the ability to set the back of the bar up higher which aids in getting off and on the rower. I was concerned about the 'orbital' action of the arms, but find it's easy to adjust to, and in effect, you can just row as normal and not use the orbital ability at all. I'm... 5/5 marquis (New England) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) 0 4/5 Sailor Don "Rower man" - See all my reviews This review is from: Stamina 1215 Orbital Rowing Machine with Free Motion Arms (Sports) After using this exercise machine for about a month (9 total exercise hours), I have found it is basically a good machine for the price. After 4 hours of use, one of the hydraulic shocks developed a "dead spot" at the start of the stroke. I called the Stamina toll free number for customer support. They sent out a replacement shock which seems to be working OK.The 4 roller wheels on the seat slide are molded plastic. They aren't exactly round so they "rumble" a little bit. It would be nice if they were smooth without mold marks on the running surfaces. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 30, 2008

Customer Video Review Length:: 1:17 MinsSo far, so good. I was a little upset that there weren't any video reviews for this product, (youtube, from the company itself etc.) so I promised myself that I'd make a video demonstration for others to judge. The basic stuff you need to know: There are 12 levels of resistance (I was using resistance level 8).The computer tells you how many complete rows you have performed, time performed, calories burned or you can scan through all three (My computer didn't work when it first arrived, but after a solid punch it woke up and started working). The resistance is nice. You'll get a good workout with this inexpensive machine. Storage is convenient, but don't be fooled, 35 pounds is heavy to move around from room to room. Keep the machine close to where you plan on using it. Finally, the footstraps were a major complaint. My complaint about the footstraps is that it doesn't hold your feet securely against the footrests. The clicking noise you hear in... 5/5 Louie the Italian Jew "Lou da Joo" - See all my reviews, September 25, 2010

    I've had this for 1 1/2 years - still a great machine

I've used this machine for 45 min every other day for a year and a half. It is this only exercise that I do and I have seen remarkable results. I am 30 years old and I have lost thirty pounds of fat and have turned an average body type in an athletic one. My back and shoulders have especially benefited. Those are the results you can expect from using this low impact, compact, easy to use and actually pretty fun piece of exercise equipment - all form the comfort of your living room.As for the machine itself: Pros:It is sturdy - I am 6'2" and 190lbs (started at 220lbs) and have never had a problem with stability.I like the free rowing arms (as opposed to a bar like I've seen at gyms), gives the feel of a real row boat and also allows for exercising different parts of arms and back.Quick results - and probably quicker if I made some changes to my diet.Cons:Calorie counter sucks butt. Infact the computer in its entirety... 4/5 oddBobby (Dallas) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) A fantastic rower for this price!

0 5/5 Linda (United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Stamina Body Trac Glider 1050 Rowing Machine (Sports) .PROS:a. Real rowing (oar-like) action, rather than just pulling on a single T-bar.b. Comfortable even with tall people (I'm 6'1').c. Adjustable rowing tension.d. A very sturdy, rigid, and well-built frame.e. Easy to assemble.f. Takes little room to use.g. Very low cost (one hundred twenty dollars).CONS:a. The seat is not well padded.b. The unit creaks and squeaks a bit until it is warmed-up.c. No instructions explaining how to actually row properly. (I found some great videos and info on the Web, however, that instruct as to how to use rowing machines). You simply cannot beat this Stamina Body Trac Rowing Machine at this very low cost -- it is an amazing deal! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 20, 2006

Built like a tank ~ Designed to last a lifetime ~ Made in USA

This is the best investment that I've ever made in a piece of exercise equipment. It will literally last a lifetime.I was looking for a high quality indoor rowing machine, as it's one of the best workouts for your entire body. I'm so glad that I not only purchased a Concept2, but that I opted to pay the extra cost for the Model E. Since the Model E is elevated to the same level as a regular chair, it's much easier to get in and out of than the Model D. This is of particular importance if you have any issues with mobility or if you're elderly. In my case, due to having had back surgery, it was essential that I purchased this model. It's absolutely worth the extra cost.Since first using this rower on 04/13/2014 I've logged over 200,000 meters, which is close to 125 miles. The feel of the rower is exquisite. Since it's made of such high quality materials, using it is all but effortless. The seat slides along the monorail in near total silence and the fan noise is... 5/5 Expressed Reviews "Expressed Reviews" (Saratoga Springs, NY) - See all my reviews, December 5, 2014

Best piece of exercise equipment that money can buy

Concept2 has been the leader in its field since 1981. Whether you buy the model E or the functionally identical and cheaper model D (a better choice for anyone without severe mobility problems), you will have a piece of exercise equipment that is simply perfect. Both machines come with an outstanding performance monitor that interfaces with PCs, iPads, Android devices and iPhones. Using my machine, my resting pulse rate went from ~65 to ~40, blood pressure dropped dramatically from ~130/80 to ~105/65 and, when my doctor tested my lung capacity, I broke his testing machine. This machine will make you lean, massively increase your lung capacity and cardiovascular fitness, and drop your weight, heart rate, and blood pressure. There is an active online community, and online rowing software so that you can row with others, and therefore never need to row alone. The machines are basically indestructible, and C2 still supports its products going back to the original model A of more than 30... 5/5 Kuma (Berkeley, California) - See all my reviews This review is from: Concept2 Model E Indoor Rowing Machine with PM5 (Sports) Concept2 has been the leader in its field since 1981. Best in house exercise available.

I have had my Concept2 rower for about 8 years now and it continues to perform flawlessly. This thing is a tank.Rowing, swimming, and cross country skiing are considered to be the best full body work outs available. It's 8 degrees in Detroit as I write this, so swimming is not an option. This is a much better exercise than an elliptical. A bonus for me is that I have a heart valve condition that does not allow weigh lifting, but does allow the rowing. The rower is high quality, fun to use, and there are a surprising number of workouts available--everything from intervals to long distance rowing. Check out the online rowing community and sign up for the workout of the day from the good folks at Concept2. There are folks with suggestions for using rowing for cross training. This review is from: Sunny Health & Fitness Sit-Up Rowing Machine (Sports) I was looking for a simple rower machine and came across this one. I have had it for almost two weeks and love it. It is small and lightweight which I love and I can move it anywhere in the house with ease. The first time I used it I was impressed...I could feel the burn right from the start. I highly recommend this to anyone just wanting to strengthen their upper body and get fit. I need the upper body strength for my job and this little machine will give me that. Good trainer, lousy quality control and customer service.

I would have actually given the trainer itself 5 stars. It is well built of sturdy material, very little plastic. It operates extremely quietly and is easy to change programs and switch between rower and bike. Assembly instructions were easy to follow and took about 40 min. BUT the rail that the seat slides on came without two critical bolt holes that should have been pre-drilled that holds the endstop in place to stop the seat from flying off the end. As a handyman with the right tools it was an easy fix that I did myself. For some people it would have been a return. It is also something you dont find until the machine is completely assembled as it is the last item to install. I informed ProForm along with photos but they have not had the decency to respond, acknowledge the problem or say thanks for fixing it myself. This does not give me a lot of confidence in their customer service. The trainer is worth buying but check the end of the rail before you assemble and hope... 3/5 Wetdogrog - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Good Value, Great Workout, Solidly Built, and Very Quiet Machine !

Very solidly built piece of equipment. Bought to break up the monotony of other cardio machines. Easy to build easy to switch from rower to bike and very quiet I had never really worked out on a rower before, this really is a great workout in a relatively short time. I initially thought the 20 minute quick program was not going to be a challenging workout but I quickly rethought that about halfway through. There are 10 programs for the rower and 10 for the bike you can of course create your own as well. The 20 level magnetic resistance is very smooth and adjusts quickly, it doesn't grab or jerk like some other pieces of equipment I've used. There is nothing extravagant on the computer, it's pretty straight forward, I'm watching tv anyway, what I did like on the computer that is noteworthy was the pacing feature, it gives you a graduated indicator that shows you if you are behind or ahead of the pace on a preprogrammed workout. I wished I had bought it sooner it's a great compliment... 5/5 Steelers #1 Fan - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) like all rowers

Amazon isn't kidding when they say you save $89. This rower does indeed sell for more online. This is exactly what I wanted. A simple rower to get me moving. If you have "bad knees" you will want to determine how to support yourself when getting on and off the machine since it is, like all rowers, very close to the ground. This is a problem for me, I knew it would be, but I knew from experience (many years ago) that I would get a full body workout with a rower. Hopefully getting on and off will become easier with time. The rower does involve assembly. I am by no means mechanically inclined (ten thumbs) but I decided to make an attempt. I found the directions to be very good and I managed to put the rower together without any problems. I am normally so inept that my 'building' this rower makes me darn proud of myself. Translated-any one should be able to assemble this rower. I found the directions to be very good and I managed to put the rower together without any problems. I am normally so inept that my 'building' this rower makes me darn proud of myself. Translated-any one should be able to assemble this rower. I hope it stands up to wear but at this price, if it lasts a year of, hopefully, regular... I love it!!

All of my parts were there and the assembly was very easy. Just follow directions. It took me about 45 min to put together after unpacking. I am very glad I did not spend any more money on a rower than this. I am an ex long distance runner and I use an elliptical daily. I have bikes and weights but just needed to shake up my workout. I am a lightweight woman, not much upper body strength. There is a lot of resistance to this for someone my size and it is adjustable as you build up. This is would not be a rower for a high performance rower, but for someone like myself in my home gym it is perfect!! I doubt this would work for a very heavy person. It only weighs about 29 lbs. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 14, 2014

This review is from: Stamina InMotion Rower, Silver (Sports) I used it for 6 minutes (160 rows) and the part the shock screws into bent to the point where you can't attach the shock to the handle (shown in the photo... they were completely straight before I used it). I'm not over the weight limit (180 lbs.) and not particularly strong (I had it on the easiest setting), so I'm not sure what happened. 0, November 22, 2014
