Dirt Paw Gloves from a Roadie's Point of View

Having been a Roadie before I discovered the tacky joy of early morning singletrack, I assumed that all of my roadie gear would work just fine for mountain biking. I had a helmet, gloves, a ton of jerseys, and bib shorts.Sure enough, my favorite Castelli Pro Gloves - Men's couldn't protect my knuckles from their first encounter with branches. I ride in a sweet part of Southern California where there's a lot of brush, thorns, and over hanging trees. It didn't take long before I figured out that I needed to have legit mountain bike gloves.Like you, I did my research, needing to keep the cost reasonable, but still get something durable that would do me a solid when it came to protection. I read a number of reviews about the Dirtpaw gloves, pulled the trigger, and hoped for the best. Two years later, I've taken these gloves on just about every MTB ride and they're still taking a beating.I sweat a lot, the soft-touch pad on each thumb is great for wiping... 5/5 Katie and J (Chino Hills, CA) - See all my reviews This review is from: 2014 Fox Head Men's Dirtpaw Race Glove (Sports Apparel) Having been a Roadie before I discovered the tacky joy of early morning singletrack, I assumed that all of my roadie gear would work just fine for mountain biking. Glove runs small.

Beware, these gloves run quite small. Per the fox sizing chart, my hand size was right between small and medium, so I bought the medium. It was uncomfortably tight when making a fist around the had grips of my bike. I returned them and re-ordered an extra-large (2 sizes up). The XL fits comfortably, but is made for a thicker hand and now has extra material that bunches under my palm when wrapped around the grips. I suggest buying 1 size up from the fox sizing chart, but be aware that they will fit very snug on the knuckles. In my opinion, they are too tight on the knuckles when your hand is on the bike grips. I think they should have used extra fabric to taper the glove for max comfort in that position. Another small complaint is that the fine mesh fabric on the sides of the fingers catch and snag easily on the velcro straps when putting them on/off. That's why I rate it 4 stars. Over all, they are a decent glove for the price, but I might have chosen something else if I had... 4/5 ben - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Not As Good As My Old Dirtpaws

2/5 Street Power (West Coast USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: 2014 Fox Head Men's Dirtpaw Race Glove (Sports Apparel) I bought these to replace some old Fox Dirtpaws. I don’t like them. The wrist closure is not Velcro. The faux Velcro has to be lined up exactly right to engage and close around the wrist. I have been using them for about six weeks. The little rubber nubbies on the fingers have worn off where they contact the clutch and the brake.Fox really dropped the ball on materials and quality. Oh, if you buy these, go one size larger. They seem to run a little small. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 5, 2014

    Outstanding Quality! **(Important SIZING Information)**

(SIZING)Reading couple reviews made me aware sizing with the FOX Dirtpaw gloves has been an issue and it seems to run small so I'll address that first.According to FOXHead.com glove sizing chart I should have ordered a SMALL glove since the measurement of my hand is about 7.25 inches, however, thankfully I tried on a friend's MEDIUM Dirtpaw and could barely squeeze my hand inside the glove so I ordered a LARGE.The Large is a perfect fit, to the point that when I make a fist my fingers reach the end.I also have a fairly thick fingers and my thumbs are a very tight fit, especially on the right hand. (Still comfortable)Based on fit of the glove I would recommend purchasing 2 sizes larger than what the FOXHead website suggests, maybe even 3 if you have very thick fingers. So if FOX chart suggests SMALL, purchase at least a LARGE and possibly even X-LARGE if you have very thick fingers.(GLOVE DESIGN)The glove design I... 5/5 Markus - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) broke too soon

3/5 Kelly Chambers (Ashland, OR) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) The boots are great for functionality and comfort. However, one of the clips broke within 1 month of use and my six year old is far from a hard core rider. They are still useable, but you would expect a brand new item to last a bit longer.
