Great bike, but be wary of the seat

This exercise bike is a good value for the money. It is quite sturdy for an inexpensive bike, works well, and is easy to put together. I also like the handlebars, so my upper body can be getting a workout while I'm pedaling instead of just my legs. I got this bike because I needed to rehab my knee after having microfracture surgery. The only reason I can't give this bike 5 stars is because of the hardness of the seat. Even though I purchased the Sunlite Gel Bicycle Seat Cover (which Amazon suggested in the Frequently Purchased Together section of the bike's webpage) at the same time that I purchased the bike, it barely makes a difference. After 30 minutes of riding, I am literally forced to get off of the bike. I also put a thick towel on top of the Gel Seat Cover, and even with that extra measure, my butt and family jewels are rendered numb from the hardness of the seat. I probably should have done more research on seat covers instead of simply buying the one that Amazon suggested... 4/5 chuck1231 (Bolingbrook, IL) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) The Best Exercise Machine Ever For The Price

In all honesty im 6 Feet Tall and its fine i don't see any problem with it, i read the other review about "it's for midgets" and that not true. I have it on the highest seat setting and my knees still don't hit the bars or my chest lol. Its a great bike... i would only recommend getting the gel seat cover they recommend to get, i think its called "Cloud Nine" Other than that your good to go. I also read that it's a bit loud and that it makes it difficult to hear the TV at the same time your using the Bike. Well i have mine right in front of the TV and yes the bike makes some noise....but nothing to stress over, all you have to do is raise the volume a little and it's good, the bike isn't that loud. Now lets get to assembling part,oh wait i forgot to tell you there barely is any assembling to do, i put it together in 30 minutes and the instructions were good to me. The only thing i found tricky was putting on the left pedal, it screws on the opposite way of the right pedal. The only... 5/5 V. Dibartolo (Brooklyn) - See all my reviews, March 4, 2010

    All Good

Bought this item via Amazon over other retailers because of the free shipping (delivered very quickly by Fed-Ex). Took a while to put together, and the tension chord was a complete bitch, but I broke out my trusty wrench and got it in place. This bike is very sturdy, and I tightened the piss out of the nuts and bolts so it would be. I can see where the base legs and seat may wobble if the bolts are not tight, so be vigilant about that. Had to get used to the smooth, noiseless ride, and the higher tension settings will get smoother as I get more used to it. The lower settings are very smooth and effortless. The plastic case was intact, no bolts were missing, all was good, and the bike fits into a convenient spot in my apartment and takes up little space. As a cardio exerciser, it works well, and after 15 minutes of use I was sweating like, well, like a fat guy on a bike. After 30 minutes I could barely walk, but, again, that's due to me, not the bike. The seat really does hurt the... 5/5 BJM "BJM" (Grand Island, NE United States) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Good moderate-exertion women's bike

I ride a real bicycle 3-4 times a week. I have very muscular legs and can easily ride 20+ miles over the course of the day.I bought this exercise bike so I can stay fit without having to go out in the nasty weather (snow, rain, and ice.)Assembly: Straightforward and fairly easy. But, the plastic body of the bike is cracked on one side. I'm ticked off about that, but it doesn't affect the bike's function.Seat: There is nothing wrong with this seat. I don't know why so many users have complained; I'm guessing they are not frequent bike riders and are looking for an easy way to get fit. Virtually any bike seat is uncomfortable if you aren't used to riding a bike. As for me, after riding this bike for an hour I have no butt discomfort. I attribute this to my regular bike usage. For newbies, I estimate it will take a week or so to become accustomed to sitting on a bike seat.Exertion: The highest setting is not difficult to pedal. Maybe this... 4/5 The Doc - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Marcy Upright Mag Cycle (Sports) I ride a real bicycle 3-4 times a week. This appears to be the same bike as I own, it's excellent!

I don't know why Marcy changed the model number on what was a great-selling and highly rated exercise bike on Amazon, and somehow managed to lose its 100+ mostly flattering reviews, but this looks and sounds exactly like the one I've been using 2-3 times per week for the last year-and-a-half. It works really well, and it is definitely worth the money. I'm in fairly decent shape and I use it at level 3 for 20-30 min. Level 8 would be really really hard for more than a few minutes. People who don't find the tension difficult at level 8 either got a defective tensioner or had trouble installing it properly. The calorie expenditure readout also seems pretty accurate. The flaw, but not a fatal one: the uncomfortable seat, which could not be easily replaced with another one. I tried using a sheepskin cover, but that created its own problems. You probably just have to get used to it as I've tried and mostly succeeded doing. (And the seat doesn't seem to bother everyone.)... 4/5 S. Weslo

Weslo Pursuit for therapy after knee replacement

After knee replacement, patients are seeking three goals: relieving pain, regaining range of motion, and walking. Most of the pain is from muscles and tendons getting used to the butchering of bones and new foreign objects where the knee used to be. The muscles continually contract and become stiff. The best way to reduce stiffness (and pain)is to keep the leg in motion. This recumbent bike is comfortable and ergonomically designed to regain the range of motion from straight leg to 150 degrees of bending. You can adjust the amount of pedal resistance in addition to the seat for leg length. Most of the bikes at the gym have a bar that obstructs your knees when adjusting the seat close to the pedals. The Weslo is more forgiving and if you have extra long lower legs, the handle can be mounted behind the shaft for even more comfort. While recovering from knee replacement, you will notice stiffness in the morning. The best way to approach this is to slide... 4/5 John Zimmerlee (Marietta GA) - See all my reviews, September 7, 2012

    Good purchase

After reading the reviews on here (Amazon) along with some other sites, I was a little skeptical of this product, mainly because of the price. Here is a run down of what I've experienced so far in the week I've had this (I'll update in a couple months if my experience somehow goes down)1. Assembly was super easy. I had a little trouble with burrs when I was putting the bar on that holds up the digital display. I had a golf club brush in reach so I used that to get them off. I threaded the screws through every hole before screwing them in permanently, I always do this with any product I get that has assembly. It's just a good idea because things are made on production lines and the finer things like this suffer a little, but NO BIG DEAL AT ALL. Only thing I had to look at the directions twice for was to attach the bar that holds up the display. This I can see might be tricky for some. Make sure to pull somewhat firmly after hooking the first piece in and then pull up to stretch... 5/5 J. Akaki "Orawhaty" - See all my reviews, March 19, 2013

    Absolute garbage

0 1/5 James - See all my reviews This review is from: Weslo Weslo Cross Cycle Upright Exercise Bike (Misc.) Very poorly engineered drive system that will fall apart with repeated use. The design of the axle is such that the flywheel has no option but to wobble due to ~10 degrees angle of deflection from its centerline (created by poor axle to flywheel fit, perhaps some race bearings are needed? I'm not sure, I'm not an engineer, but I can see the problem). Weslo knows that most of these machines get used about 3 times and then are relegated to clothes hanger duty which is what allows them to get away with selling garbage machines like this one. If you are looking for exercise equipment that you will actually use several times per week, look elsewhere. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 8, 2014

    Real Good Workout

0 5/5 Brenda - See all my reviews This review is from: Weslo Weslo Cross Cycle Upright Exercise Bike (Misc.) Its not suitable for shorties like me & takes time to mount, but once mounted its ideal. It gives a total body workout that leaves you invigorated & eager for the next session. My 16 year old son assembled mine with ease & in under 30 minutes. I will need a step stool to mount it,but I'm cool with that. Its the best exercise bike I've ever used. The tension is perfect & challenging...feels great. I am 100% satisfied. And it doesn't need a lot of space. I have mine in a small space in my bedroom. The seat is comfortable, nicely padded. The unit is heavy, making it sturdy & safe. Its a wise investment. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 23, 2014

Good product - IF you don't have any issues...parts no longer made

0 2/5 onlinemom - See all my reviews This review is from: Weslo Weslo Cross Cycle Upright Exercise Bike (Misc.) Got this elsewhere, but the wheel came cracked, and we were missing one locking nut. Called the 866 # on the form in the box as iit says to do and was told they do not make the wheel anymore. Their advice? Duct tape it. Ok, then asked that they send me just the locking nut that was missing - turns out they don't have those either...they suggested I go to a hardware store with the measurement and buy one there. Other than the missing/broken pieces and lack of customer service the bike itself seems pretty sturdy, relatively comfortable and decent quality for the price. But better hope it doesn't come broken or with any missing pieces. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 21, 2014

Rock Solid! Amazing Value! I Love it!

UPDATE Dec 4th, 2013:I've had my Sunny for just about a year now- and I use it quite vigorously, as I do Tabata drills- and it is holding-up great! Haven't had to do anything at all to it, yet! It's still like new. I'm amazed at what a bargain it is, for such a low price. I see the cheap spin bikes they have at the local Walmart.... They look like they're half falling apart just sitting there on the display platform! :DNow back to the original review:I'm going to divide this review up into three sections for convenience, to address the bike itself; Some other reviewers comments; and a little something about spinning in general. But first, a little about me: I am a recreational cyclist who logs over 3000 miles a year on a road bike and I purchased this spin bike so that I can stay fit in the winter, when, due to weather and limited hours of daylight, I don't get to ride my road bike as often. Great Value!

0 4/5 Fitness03 (Pittsburgh, PA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Sunny Health & Fitness Pro Indoor Cycling Bike (Health and Beauty) I've been a spinning instructor for 10 years. I just had a baby and I'm taking some time away from the gym but want to stay fit. I bought 3 of these bikes; one for me and two for some of my clients to use in my home gym. I'm very impressed so far and so are my clients. This bike is just as sturdy as any spinning bikes that I've used in a gym. I would highly recommend it. The only draw back was that the seat was too tall for me even on the lowest setting. My husband drilled an extra hole in the post (yes, there is plenty of room) and the height is now fine. I would strongly recommend this bike to anyone. I would compare it to bikes that are in the $1000+ category. I'm very impressed! As far as assembly, it took about 20 minutes to assemble. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 28, 2009

Nice bike with a few flaws

The bike itself is nice. It is comfortable and pedals nice. It was easy to put together by myself, and only took about an hour. It's VERY quiet. You can hear the tv perfectly when you're pedaling. There are Five problems I have with it. The first is that although the manual says that you can change it to miles from kilometers, you can't. The directions for how to do it are clear, but when you try, it doesn't do anything. So when you get off you have to convert it to miles. The second problem is that if you have to get off the bike for a minute, the computer will shut down, and when you start it up again it's reset. It's fine unless you need a drink or to tend to a needy three year old. It doesn't take long for it to reset either. It's less than a minute. So if you want a total for how far you rode, write it down before you get up or you've lost it. Third, the heart rate monitor won't work. It's not a huge deal to me because I use a polar heart rate monitor... 4/5 C&EG (Alamosa, CO USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?)
